486 Global Village Shelters were donated to the Jehlum Valley in Kasmir Pakistan for earthquake victim relief. With the help of NYC Medics and UPS, we sent the first shipment of 200 shelters in March 2006. The medics helped distribute and set up shelters throughout the region. The mountainous terrain was challenging to say the least. These units were used for orphan villages and homes for widowed women.
The second shipment of 286 shelters arrived in July 2006 with the help of DRN (the Disaster Resource Network). The Pakistani group URDO (United Rural Development Organization) is responsible for distribution of these units.
